Book from Nicole–Chapter 1: Granny casts a spell
Posted in Nicole's chapter books on 11/24/2009 12:26 pm by nicoleSusie always got home from school, hung up her coat, and found her grandma was sitting by the fire, sewing as usual. Susie’s grandmother said she was a witch. Susie didn’t believe it. Her grandma was a nice old lady, wore normal clothes, and never cast any spells. Susie’s Grandmother said one day, she would cast a spell and her knitting needles would start knitting by themselves. Susie always snuck, and peeked into her grandma’s wardrobe to see if there was a witch;s hat or a book of spells, but there never were any. One day while Susie was playing in her yard, she heard a small weeping sound. She parted the buses, and saw on a rock was perched a little fairy. Why are you crying? asked Susie rather shocked. Well, the Princess hires me to sew her a Ball gown for her ball, but an evil wizard tricked me and turned the fabric into Bat’s wings. Now I’ll never be able to make anything. Well, my grandma got some pretty fabric, I’m sure she won’t mind sharing some with you. The fairy was delighted. Susie went inside and found her grandma sitting by the fire. She wasn’t sewing. On her legs perched her needle, silently sewing by themselves. Susie thought: oh boy, granny’s casting a spell, I sure hope it isn’t a bad one. I’d better go see if the fairy is OK. She raced back outside and found the fairy surrounded by lots of the pretties fabric Susie had ever seen. Where’d those come from? Asked Susie. I don’t know. Replied the fairy. I think it has something to do with my grandma. Said Susie. Well, then THANK YOU! You are also invited to the ball then, said the fairy, dancing up and down on Susie’s shoulders. I’d sure be glad to go, said Susie. Although she didn’t know how she’d go because she was huge to fairies. Meet you there at 12:00 midnight, said the fairy. Then the fairy vanished.
